From John Laing

However during our school Summer holidays around 1963 Malcolm Goodwin (Ranger) and myself (Peewit) sailed round to Maldon/Steeplestone. Anchored off the Stone we saw a grey/blue WOD to our great surprise. I think Malcolm climbed aboard to see the sail number….18! her name was Quiver. All I can I can remember that the rib spacing on her was larger than normal. (later as seen just like Osprey’s). Some time later when Malcolm tried to find Quiver he found that she had been burned in a field around the Maldon area.

We concluded that both Quiver and Osprey were built by a builder who did not wish to pay the £5 royalty fee to WSC. We asked Fred Mitchell about this as he would have had WOD frames. He did not remember?
